I had uploaded an update but it never got published. Below is the update from 10 days ago…
Thank God for allowing us to arrive safely for our mission in the Philippines, and thank you for your prayers. We landed at Manila NAIA International Airport late Friday night and have settled into our temporary lodging in Makati.
On Saturday, June 1st, we spent the day exploring the neighborhood and shopping for basic necessities like water, shampoo, and SIM cards. The heat and humidity are a bit uncomfortable, but this pales in comparison to the hardships faced by the homeless children, widows, and families here who can’t escape the heat. Reflecting on our previous living conditions in Northern Virginia, this experience is truly humbling.
Today, we attended our first church service at Manila New Life Presbyterian Church (마닐라 새생명 장로교회) with Elder Jang and his wife, Deaconess Kim (김경희 권사님). We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome we received from the congregation, Deacons, Elders, and Senior Pastor Yoon (윤천석 담임목사님). After the service, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and coffee in fellowship with Elder Jang and his wife.
On Tuesday, we will meet with Ms. May to start our visa processing and explore lodging options. It’s been a busy two days, but we are excited and eager to see what God has in store for us.
