Missionary Work in the Philippines: Community Impact

“Cutud Happy Church” – James (7) & Hanbin (4)

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 NIV

Greeting Brothers and Sisters,
JinJu and I have now been in the Philippines for a little over nine months. January and February have come and gone, and we have officially entered the dry months (March – June), marking the beginning of summer in the Philippines. We were blessed to spend time with JinJu’s sisters in January during the Lunar New Year holiday. In that month, we met Missionary Kim Se Jeong from Happy Church, who has established numerous churches across the Philippines, most notably the “Jaoville Happy Church,” which is situated at one of the feeding programs in Angeles City.

The 5th KCBMC (Korean Christian Business Men’s Connection) Asia Conference took place from 19-23 February 2025 in Boracay. Business owners and their families, along with missionaries, attended this 4-day conference, having traveled via plane, boat, and bus. Over 220 attendees arrived from the U.S., Canada, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, and the Philippines. The theme of the conference centered around “Link Generation,” which seeks to disciple young business owners with established KCBMC members.

2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men,[a] who will be able to teach others also.
– 2 Timothy 2:2 ESV

One of the presentation speakers (Kang, Go Eun – Omni Financial C.E.O.) came all the way from Fairfax, Virginia and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she attends KCPC. 🙂

On March 3rd, we assisted with the feeding program in the afternoon, and on the 4th, we attended the World Mission Theological Seminary’s 2nd Graduation Ceremony. Afterwards, we visited and supplied five families living around the “Cutud Happy Church” with rice, noodles, canned meat, and snacks.

Prayer Requests:

  1. It has been determined that using the building in Silang as an orphanage will be too difficult. Therefore, we are considering using it as a children’s learning center. The center would teach Korean language, Music, and Arts.
  2. We have committed to visiting the “Cutud Happy Church” Village monthly, near Angeles City, till the end of 2025. Our goal is to share the gospel with 5 families each month. We also aim to hear their prayer requests. Below is the prayer requests from the 5 families we recently visited:
    • 1st Family: Bong & Mary Jane have 9 children. Bong has been suffering from an ailment which has bloated his stomach for the past 2 years. Prayers for God’s healing for Bong (53 year old) and currently, there are 16 family members living in a small room. Their prayer request is to expand their living quarters to accommodate everyone.
    • 2nd Family: Rochelle (27) & Arnold Mendosa (28). They have 4 children, Jasmine (10), Jason (7), Justin (5) and Jess (1). She asks for good health for her family.
    • 3rd Family: Mary (37) – Single Mother of 4 children; Maria Claudia (12), John Michael (10), James (7) & Hanbin (4). Maria Claudia has recently had a tumor removed from her left cheek. The stitches broke open and she will return to get restitched. Her 3 sons are Kopino (Korean-Filipino). None of the children attend school. Prayers for Maria Claudia to be completely healed from the tumor removal and for God’s provisions for her family’s needs.
