On Saturday, 10-Aug-2024, we visited Sorok Uni Village, located in Quezon Province, which is about 2 hours away South East of Manila. Sorok Uni Village is a reintegration community of Filipino’s who have been cured of leprosy (Hansen’s Disease), whose aim is to eventually reintegrate the families back into society. The center sits on 10 hectares of land (approximately 25 acres), with the majority dedicated to farming for sustainability. Currently, a water tower is being installed to allow the residents to be able to farm and cultivate goguma (Korean sweet potatoes), which will provide a steady source of income for the families.

On the way back to Manila, we visited the future Sorok Uni Center for OSAEC (Online Sexually Abused and Exploited Children) Girls Center. The center will eventually house 50 girls who have been rescued by the Philippine government from their life of physical/mental abuse & torment. Sorok Uni Foundation recently partnered with COICA (Civil Business Cooperation ) and Human Asia from Korea, which will continue its support of education projects in the Philippines. The Sorok Uni OSAEC Center plans to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2025.

We were blessed to have had the opportunity to meet up with Pastor James Lee and his wife (Shine), who traveled up to Manila, to have brunch on Monday, 19-Aug-24. It was a good time of fellowship getting to hear of their mission in Mindoro and their ministry for the Mangyan people. A week and a half later, we had lunch with Pastor James and Pastor David Kim (MTW Japan) on Saturday, 31-Aug-2024, prior to our trip up to Angeles City in the afternoon. It was great to see Pastor David again since his departure from KCPC as missionary to Japan 2 1/2 years ago. I still have fond memories of being able to serve alongside him on the JG STM to Peru in 2016, led by Pastor Philip Chung. Please pray along side us for Pastor James’ successful surgery outcome coming up on September 12th (Yongin Severance Hospital, Korea) and for Pastor David’s service to the Fourth Lausanne Congress to be held in Korea at the end of September.

After our fellowship with Pastors James & David, we traveled to Angeles City and on Sunday morning the next day, helped out in the Feeding Program (Food4Kids), established by David McReady (Banana Man). We prepared 350+ goodie bags and handed them out to the children during morning feeding. Items in the bags included shampoo, candy treats, stickers and bead rings (for girls) and toy cars (for boys). Jinju spent several weeks making the bead rings to give out to the girls. Unfortunately, the stickers we had ordered for the boys arrived afterwards, so they will be given out during our next visit. During our visit, we found out that one of the girls (Crystal Joy) aged 8 in the feeding program, while playing in the river with her friend had succumbed to the water. CPR was administered to both but only her friend was revived.

Prayer Requests:
- The monsoon season runs from June to December yearly, with the latest tropical storm “Enteng” bringing a deluge of rainfall throughout all regions of the Philippine Islands while taking 13 lives. It strengthened to a Super Typhoon “Yagi” before making landfall in Northern Vietnam, taking many lives. We pray that God will pour out His protection throughout this season.
- Pastor James Lee will be undergoing surgery on September 12th (Korea Time). Praying that he will be completely healed through the skillful hands of the doctor, guided by the Holy Spirit and for plenty of rest so he can return refreshed to shepherd the pastors of the Mangyan tribes in Mindoro. Also prayers for God’s provisions and protection of Pastor James’ wife (Shine) and daughters (Maya & Ava) during his absence.
- Praying for a Great Worldwide Revival through the Fourth Lausanne Movement, 22-28 September 2024, Incheon, Korea.
- JinJu is experiencing and suffering from itchiness and pain in her hands once again. For some time it lay dormant and she found relief but has recently reappeared. Dermatologists in the U.S. & Korea are unable to identify the root cause and have only prescribed steroids. We ask for your prayers that her hands be fully healed in Jesus’ name.
- For God’s guidance, wisdom, direction and insight, as Carleton continues in his seminary studies to prepare him to lead the next generation of God’s children.
- For physical and spiritual protection, so we may always be able to overcome any ailments or obstacles in Jesus’ name.
